Tigerstedt block is Certus’ oldest free-standing building. The northernmost part of the building was built as a photography studio for Albert Tigerstedt in 1952, hence the name "Tigerstedt block." The iconic neon sign remains as one of the few authentic signs from the early 1950s in Calgary.

The property is a mixed-use multi-family residential and retail development. While we await the transformation of the Tigerstedt Block, the retail strip has become a vibrant incubator to numerous start-up artisanal food purveyors and local retail, such as Tokyo Street Market, Two Pillars Inc, and the Tigerstedt Flea Market.

Tigerstedt is flanked to the west by the prosperous single-family community of  Rosedale and to the east by the youthful and vibrant density of  Crescent Heights. Making it strategically situated along the east side of Centre Street between 8th and 9th Avenues a short walk from Chinatown and the Calgary downtown office core.

Tigerstedt Block proves to be both a great place to live and a prime retail location for commuters as they enter and exit the city centre.
